Sencha

煎茶

Grown throughout the country, Sencha is Japan's most popular style of green tea. The leaves are freshly picked and steamed, halting their natural oxidation and encouraging a rich, green colour. They then go through several stages of precise rolling and drying before the tea is finished. Our Sencha is crafted by tea master Hiromi Wada, from the banks of the Sasama River in Shizuoka, Japan's largest region for tea cultivation. The terroir here is rich and fertile, ensuring an authentic, umami-rich flavour.

  • Cultivar - Yabukita

    Great tea

I have purchased this tea on more than one occasion. It's clarity, smoothness and mellowness is very good. You can be quite sparse with this tea and can infuse the used first drink again with hot water without affecting the flavour.

    Sencha v Dragonwell

Having been a huge dragon well fan for years after tasting it in China, I decided to try sencha, it is now my go to tea. Clean and fresh with a great colour

    My new tea

I find this tea really fresh and uplifting. What I love about this is that you can resteep it quite a few times and it is still lovely. It is miles away from the supermarket green tea, which is bitter and undrinkable. Considering how little you need, and that you can reuse the needles it is actually very good value.

    well worth a try

Previously I had sampled Jing's Sencha Supreme until it was no longer available and moved on to this Sencha. I only purchased a relatively small amount, but wished I had bought more as I really like this tea. It is quite silky and has a vibrant fresh green colour. Its taste is sweet and lingering. Also, a small amount goes a long way - well worth the money.

    Beautiful green

A lovely light grassy taste and earthy aroma. A lovely light green, yellow colour. Taste wonderfully fresh with no lingering after taste.

    Great Sencha

This sencha is excellent, grassy and very tasty, when some senchas can be bland. This one is not in anyway bland. A great tea and an exceptional sench, almost as good as the gyokuro.

    Great!

Ok, this is an expensive tea, but do you know that you can steep it up to 5 times! Quit exceptional... The lower the temperature, less bitter it taste, I use it for a month now and I am addicted to it. The taste is grassy and one of the best seshas ever... So to me it is worth it, and I tried a lot of them...

    Lovely

One of the nicest green teas I have tasted. Quite expensive so wouldn't have it everyday.

    Very nice

I have bought a few teas on Jing Teas, and this is my first Japanese green. This is fresh, refreshing, but less grassy than other Green teas I have tried. Slightly more pricey than some others and I would say this is not totally justified, but I do like having a few different flavours of green tea of which this is a very nice variant.
